What is the average water bill in the UK?
The forecast average combined water and wastewater bill in England and Wales is £639 for 2026/27. Your actual bill depends on your supplier, whether you have a meter, your household and your water use.
How accurate is this water bill calculator?
It is a planning estimate based on official 2026/27 regional company averages and typical household consumption. It is not a tariff quote. Your actual bill can vary because of local charging zones, standing charges, wastewater allowances, meter readings and property rateable value.
Is a water meter cheaper?
Often, but not always. A meter is more likely to save money when there are fewer people than bedrooms in your home or you use water carefully. Large households and heavy garden users may pay more on a meter.
Can I change my household water supplier?
Households cannot normally choose their regional water company. Eligible businesses in England can choose their retailer. Household customers can still reduce usage, check for support tariffs and query incorrect bills.
When do 2026/27 water prices start?
The 2026/27 prices take effect from 1 April 2026. The national forecast average is £639, an increase of £33 or 5.4% from 2025/26.
